Directing
Jared got his first taste of directing in high school, when he was involved in a night of student scenes: Students were invited to direct a scene from a play and have it performed and the director with the best scene would be chosen to direct the school's yearly production for the state-wide high school theater festival. After directing a scene from David Auburn's Proof, Jared was chosen to direct At The Bottom of Lake Missoula for the NHETA's Regional Festival. At The Bottom of Lake Missoula was well received and, while it wasn't chosen to advance to the State Festival, he earned a directing award for the production.

Jared continued to direct at the University of New Haven, from short plays in the Theatre Club to scenes in collaborative works on the main stage. For the Theatre Club, he directed What Remains of Youth, by Eric Gernand and their annual musical revue: Cabaret 3. For the Theater Department, he directed a scene from Gao Xingjian's The Other Shore as part of a class-wide collaborative work called Empathy, as well as a short play, When the Winds Changed, by Leakana Li, as part of the Student New Works Festival.

Lighting Design
Jared got his first taste in lighting design in high school, when he helped run the light board for events in the theater. It wasn't until mid-way through his education at the University of New Haven, however, that he returned to the lighting board and dove into design. He joined the Electrics Crew to learn more about lighting, and when he expressed interest and an aptitude for design, he became an Assistant Lighting Designer on mainstage productions, one of which being Trojan Women, which earned him an award with the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival.

After graduating, Jared was hired to return to his alma mater as a professional Lighting Designer, where he designed multiple productions, including The Complete Works of William Shakespeare and The Wolves. He also worked with ACT of Connecticut on their Electric Crew.
